Big Screen Liverpool, Clayton Square, L1 1QR
37Seconds presents its last programme of contemporary moving image before the New Year; a solo screening of one of China’ quickest rising stars.
Reciprocal to this years Liverpool Biennial exhibition at its twin city Shanghai’s biennale, Shanghai based artist Qiu Anxiong will present four works exclusively for Liverpool’s Big Screen.
Combining immaculate detail with stark, minimal compositions, traditional Chinese aesthetics with personal, non linear and dream like narratives; Qiu Anxiong’s mesmerising animation and photographic works In the Sky, Fly South, Jian Nan Poem and New Book of Mountain and Sea interpret themes such as Nature, Fairytales, and our perspective of movement, uniting visually stunning imagery with rich layers of associative meaning.
Thanks to Grace Li Gallery, Switzerland (www.graceligallery.com) for assistance with this screening.
37Seconds is a public art programme curated by Rebecca Lennon for the BBC Big Screen Liverpool with additional support from FACT, Liverpool Biennial and Arts Council England. For further information on 37Seconds visit www.37Seconds.co.uk
