The Liverpool Turner 2007

The official Turner Prize 2007 is taking place at Tate Liverpool later this year.

Here at we are big fans of the Turner Prize and think it would be great if at least one ‘local’ artist was shortlisted.

Anyone can nominate an artist – the deadline is April 14 2007
Shortlist is announced May 8 2007 and the winner announced in early December 07

The artist has to be British and under the age of 50 on 1 May 2007
The artist has to have had an exhibition or other presentation in the last year before 1 May 2007

So, go to the Tate website and nominate a Merseyside artist
Go to our Nominations board and tell us who you nominated
Just go to our Nominations board and tell us which local artist you would like to see win the Turner Prize

Then we can have our very own Liverpool Turner 2007 competition

turner-logo-2web-200.jpgWe don’t have a prize at present but if anyone wants to offer one that would be cool.

The idea is that if we have enough nominations of local artists to make it interesting we can run a competition of our own alongside the offical Turner prize.

The rules will be the same except that the artist must be ‘local’ (thats always difficult to define but born or based in Merseyside should suffice).

Also the deadlines may differ.
The winner could be chosen by an online vote here or by a panel of other local artists or a combination of both.
