Organisers of the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, Northern Vision, have announced that former British number one and Davies Cup anchor man, Greg Rusedski, will enter the ATP event at this year’s tournament, due to take place June 12th – 17th at Calderstones Park, Liverpool.
Joining Rusedski in the round-robin event will be a strong line up of ATP aces including, world number 15, David Ferrer, who was also announced at the press conference in Liverpool
The announcement of Bjorn Borg, who will compete in the legends event, has resulted in record ticket sales and the need for centre court to be increased to a capacity of 3,300.
Five time Wimbledon Champion, Borg will play his only singles match against 1987 Wimbledon champion, Pat Cash. The two will go head-to-head on Ladies Day (15th June), in what is sure to be a must see match, which is causing quite a stir on the tour already. There is a limited number of tickets available for Friday 15th June.
Borg will play on Wednesday and Thursday with a host of other legends including Mansour Bahrami and Peter McNamara, as well as two new legends to the Liverpool tournament, legendary doubles partner of John McEnroe – Peter Fleming and Cédric Pioline, current Tournament Director of the Masters series.
The tournament, supported by Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Culture Company, takes place over 6 days, in the publicly owned Calderstones Park, Liverpool, June 12th – 17th.
