Northern Art Prize Longlist includes 3 Liverpool Art Prize Artists

Artists shortlisted for the Liverpool Art Prize have a habit of going on to feature in the Northern Art Prize. This year, Gina Czarnecki, David Jacques and James Quin all feature in both the Liverpool shortlist and the Northern longlist which has just been announced. Great to see Leo Fitzmaurice in there too.

The longlisted artists for the Northern Art Prize 2010 have just been announced.

They are: Breda Beban, Sophie Lisa Beresford, Simon, Laurie Burt, Matthew Crawley, Gina Czarnecki, Rhodri Davies, Graham Dolphin, Alec Finlay, Leo Fitzmaurice, Lubaina Himid, David Jacques, KMA (Kit Monkman and Tom Wexler), Kevin Laycock, Laura Lancaster, Sue Lawty, Ian Macdonald, Haroon Mirza, James Quin, Qasim Riza Shaheen,  Matt and Rob Vale, Diane Welford.

The judges will be meeting over the summer to select a shortlist of four whose work will be shown at Leeds Art Gallery from 26 November 2009 – 6 February 2010. The judges are: Richard Greer (Collector), Susan Hiller (Artist), Mark Lawson (Journalist, Broadcaster and Author), Andrea Rose (Director of Visual Arts, British Council) and Tanja Pirsig-Marshall (Curator of Exhibitions, Leeds Art Gallery).

The winning artist will be announced on 20 January 2011, scooping the £16,500 prize money whilst each of the runners up will receive £1,500.
