LightNight at Open Eye Gallery

FLOW2

A night of new jazz-classical music in Mann Island’s Atrium.

Friday 19 May/ 5PM – 10PM/ Free

For LightNight 2017, Open Eye Gallery will be taking over Mann Island’s Glass Atrium from 7PM with an evening of contemporary jazz-classical music, performed by a 13-piece orchestra and international pianist.

Using classical instrumentation with improvised jazz structures, international pianist David Braid and 13-piece contemporary orchestra Sinfonia UK Collective will perform ‘Flow2’, a trailblazing musical meditation on time, landscape and global cultures. The performance will take place in Mann Island’s Atrium, the covered space outside Open Eye Gallery.

David Braid is a Steinway artist and double Academy Award winner, whose music has been described as “refreshingly uncategorizable” by Paris Transatlantic. Sinfonia UK Collective, led by Liverpool-born Lee Tsang, has an international reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative ensembles, dedicated to championing new and unfamiliar musical perspectives.

Sinfonia UK Collective are using this opportunity to raise funds for future projects. This event is completely free, but for premier seating, wine, canapés, signed CDs and dedications, head here.

Open Eye Gallery’s ‘Culture Shifts: Global’ exhibition will also be open.

Supported with public funding from National Lottery through Arts Council England, University of Hull, Canada Council for the Arts and Steinway & Sons.
