Frank Cottrell Boyce donates 5,000 words to City of Readers

The first instalment of Frank Cottrell Boyce’s innovative online serial, The Menlove Treasure is due to be released on Monday 21 July.

In a totally unique project, award winning Liverpool author and Screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce is donating 5,000 words in the form of a free online serial to City of Readers for their ‘Give us 5 for reading’ campaign.

Give us 5 is a campaign lead by City of Readers to ask people across Liverpool to donate 5 for reading; this can be 5 books, £5 or in Franks case, a very generous offer of 5,000 words.

Frank’s new online serial will be released once a month – which means he will be providing readers with one cliff-hanger each time – with the first instalment coming out on Monday 21 July. This serial, which incorporates treasure and time travel, will then be released on the 21 of each month from July up until the live reading of the final chapter at the Penny Readings in St Georges Hall, Liverpool this December.

Frank’s serial will be particularly exciting for Liverpool readers as it will explore Liverpool’s most mysterious objects – The Calder stones and delve into the history of a mysterious torn painting.

City of Readers Project Manager, Emma Melling said:

“We are thrilled that Frank is donating something so creative and exciting to our Give us 5 campaign, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store. We have every faith it will be loved by readers throughout Liverpool.”

Put together by the same three creative individuals behind the winner of prize winning children’s book The Unforgotten Coat, this online serial is guaranteed to be both skilfully written, and creatively designed.

Be one of the first to read instalment number one here on Monday 21 July.
