LGBT+ and queer art study day

Join us for a day of talks and discussion exploring LGBT+ history and art in museums and art galleries.

The day will include the opportunity to hear from staff at the Walker about their recent LGBT+ work, including the exhibition Coming Out: Sexuality, Gender & Identity and research project Pride & Prejudice, sharing insights on their research, audience development, programming and resources.

There will also be the opportunity to hear from artists, activists and community leaders about their work. The day will end with a panel discussion reflecting on where we go next and what the future holds for LGBT+ representation and visibility in museums and galleries.

This is a day for networking, skills sharing and making new friends. Artists, curators, activists, educators and anyone with an interest in LGBT+ art, history and art galleries is welcome to join us.

The event will take place between 10am – 4.30pm. Participants are invited to join us for a second day of workshops, performances and activities on Saturday 4 November to help us celebrate the exhibition on its closing weekend.

Complimentary refreshments and lunch will be provided. All participants will also receive a copy of the exhibition catalogue for Coming Out: Sexuality, Gender & Identity. Attendance is free of charge.
