The PoA project, which is financed by the Erasmus + programme, is based on the four partners’ conviction that by putting an emphasis on young people’s soft skills and the development of these skills their employability will increase and that art is great tool to enhance these skills. The partners are: Brouhaha International and Sunshine International Arts from Liverpool and Shokkin’ Group NL and DW-RS projects from Amsterdam. The project started in September 2017. Since then each partner has worked with groups of young people, using either dance, music and poetry, storytelling or photography to develop the participants’ soft skills. In December young people from Liverpool and Amsterdam together participated in a week long training during which they were offered workshops in all these art forms and were challenged to blend these in a final presentation: an intense and horizon broadening experience for almost all! The partners then, based on their experiences, observations and assessments of the workshops and this training, developed a methodology for social emotional learning, based on the use of the afore mentioned art forms. In the week prior to the conference they will train 8 youth workers (4 from the Netherlands and 4 from the UK) in the use of this methodology. After that we would like to introduce it to, and share it with more youth workers from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and other European countries during the conference in Liverpool.
If you are a entry level youth worker or creative practitioner or community workshop leader active in the Netherlands, UK or another European country and interested in attending the conference please ensure you book your FREE ticket now.
