Join us in Big Art for Little Artists at the Walker Art Gallery for a free intergenerational workshop inspired by The Feeding Chair, which is on display in the Gender Stories exhibition.

We’ll start with something simple. Toast.

Toast can be breakfast, a quick meal eaten standing up, something shared with a child, or simply whatever you can manage when you’re tired. For many people, it is also one of the first foods offered after giving birth in hospital.

In this workshop, toast becomes a starting point for conversations about care. Together, we’ll make, play, eat toast and share stories of birth, motherhood and family life, and reflect on what helps mothers and carers feel nourished and supported.

Children are very much part of the workshop. They can eat, make, play, draw and contribute in ways that suit different ages.

Sessions will run 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm, Please book one session only. You are welcome to arrive at any time during your chosen session and stay for as long as you like.

Free. Booking required.

Refreshments provided.
