TATE LIVERPOOL
BEHIND THE SCENES: 30 YEARS AT TATE LIVERPOOL
DAILY FROM 2 APRIL 2018

Join Ken Simons for a week of conversations and stories about his 30 years as Art Handling Manager at Tate Liverpool. Ken joined Tate as an Art Handler in London 43 years ago, and has been responsible for handling and installing the national collection of modern and contemporary art at Tate Liverpool since the gallery opened in 1988. To mark Tate Liverpool’s 30th birthday, Ken has curated an exhibition revealing his personal history of the gallery: Ken’s Show: Exploring the Unseen.

Head to Tate Exchange to meet Ken who will be ‘in residence’ all week. Ken will be joined by former colleagues and collaborators to discuss memorable moments in Tate Liverpool’s history. How did it feel to prepare the first exhibitions for the opening of the building in 1988? How did he get Antony Gormley’s 15-metre-long Vehicle 1987 into the gallery? Which artists has Ken most enjoyed working with over the years? Ask him anything!

Visitors will also be able to explore posters, photographs and catalogues from the gallery’s past exhibitions, as well as talking to Ken about his unique experience of Tate Liverpool over the years.

Daily at 11.00–13.00 and 14.00–16.00

From 2 April 2018
