Masterclass – Managing Arts Projects with Social Impact
October 21, 2017

The training day:  This masterclass is suitable for artists, arts managers at all stages in their careers interested in learning anew or refreshing their thinking around arts and change. It will cover all aspects of managing social impact arts projects: from conception, through delivery to evaluation.

By the end of the day participants will have:

  • an enhanced understanding of liberal and radical perspectives on change and the ethics involved
  • an enhanced understanding of the potential social impacts to be derived from a high-quality participatory arts process
  • strategies for engaging those who are ‘difficult to reach’ in creative processes
  • a clear understanding of how to embed a change agenda throughout the project cycle
  • tools for measuring and evaluating social impact
  • strategies for advocating on behalf of the work, and connecting into wider social policy objectives

Save £10 per masterclass when booked with either Arts and Dementia or Making Political Theatre With Communities.

Background and expertise: Collective Encounters began as a practice-as-research initiative to explore if and how theatre had the potential to contribute to social and political change.  Having established that it most certainly did, the company has spent the past decade refining its approach and researching other examples of Arts for Change locally, nationally and internationally.  The company has published and presented widely on this topic, most recently being commissioned to produce The Social Impact of the Arts in Liverpool 2015-16 for Liverpool City Council.
