Have you ever wondered how an artist captures someone’s likeness?
Liverpool artist and sculptor Philip Garrett will be demonstrating his portrait sketching skills at Kirkby Gallery on Friday 1 June, 10am-12noon. Visitors are welcome to sit for him for a minimum of 15 minutes, and may keep his drawing in return for a donation to the Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum.
Philip will be teaching a FREE drawing class for adults at Kirkby Gallery on Friday 1 June, 1pm-3pm.
We are excited to reveal that Kirkby Gallery will host a solo exhibition of Philip’s enigmatic and finely-observed sculptures in 2020; the images above give a glimpse into his breathtaking Liverpool studio. In the coming months, we are hoping to hold a sculpture course taught by Philip at Kirkby Gallery, so please get in touch if this is something you would be interested in.
Places on the 1 June drawing class are free, but numbers are limited. All you need are basic art materials, paper and pencils. To book, email Tina Ball tina.ball@knowsley.gov.uk or call 0151 443 5617.
Philip will also be at our stall at Prescot’s Elizabethan Fayre on Saturday 2 June, 11am-4pm, sketching visitors in return for a donation to the Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum. If you or your family would like to be drawn by a master, pop along and sit for a portrait.
