Immix Ensemble present ‘Invisible Trains’ by Jeff Young & Paul McGhee
Invisible Trains is a new site-specific work created by writer Jeff Young and composer Paul McGhee, and commissioned as part of Immix’s 2016 concert programme. The concert will coincide with the launch of a new film installation by Bill Morrison.
Invisible Trains is a series of memories of sad goodbyes and sweet farewells, and glimpses of ghosts hopefully waiting for the departed to return. Set within Metal Liverpool’s spaces at the Edge Hill Railway station on September 15th – the 186th anniversary of the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway – this new work draws on the building’s unique history as the worlds oldest passenger railway station, as well as its specific acoustic qualities and anomalies. Young’s words and McGhee’s music will react and respond to one another as well as their surroundings, with the piece eventually becoming interwoven with the sounds and stories of the station itself.
Tickets are £5 and available through Eventbrite.
