Eoin Flynn’s art practice is a psychogeographical exploration of the spaces in between. Discovered by chance on Sebaldian walks and wanderings, and examined through drawing, photography and text. Themes of utility and obsolescence, economy, environment and entropy manifest themselves in half-landscapes of these neglected places. Exploratory photographs are scratched, scored and drawn back into, then extended out from the frame’s edge with painting and drawing from memory and/or imagination. The resulting works creep towards the paper’s boundaries allowing a sense of incompletion (much like their subjects) that is perhaps met by the texts of documentation, real or imagined histories that sometimes accompany them.
