This 10 week art course is designed to develop observational and expressive drawing techniques and skills. This course is suitable for beginners or those wishing to explore aspects of their own practise.

Wednesdays, 6:45pm – 9pm starting 9th October 2019 (£160 for 10 week course)
1: Mark Making – Using pencil/mixed media to create a wide variety of marks
2: Observation – how we observe the world
3: Synchronizing the hand with the eye
4: Tone and shading
5: Marks into meaning, loosening up
6: Tactile Drawing
7: Inspiration from other artists work
8: Drawing techniques
9: Still life drawing – pencil
10: Still life drawing – mixed media
Students are asked to bring the following materials to make the most out of the course:
- Sketchbook – A3 or A2, medium or heavy cartridge paper
- Drawing pencils B,2B,3B,4B
- Selection of pens
- Pencil eraser
- Compressed charcoal
- Brushes – small and medium
- Chalk pastels/oil pastels
- Water colours
- Different weight, colour and textured paper
- Any other drawing medium you wish to explore

Sarah Jane is an experienced tutor and artist, who has taught drawing to children and adults for many years.

Cancellations / Refunds
Once you have made your course booking your are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run.
Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.
If you wish to cancel your place on a course that has not yet started and you have a friend or colleague who can take your place we can accommodate this substitution.
