Natural history is a domain of inquiry involving organisms, including animals, fungi, and plants, in their natural environment, leaning more towards observational than experimental methods of study.
Karen Wilson, Nick Jones and Pamela Holstein formed Corvid collective bound by their shared interests in producing figurative work and use of fine art techniques of painting, collage and printmaking.
Their latest show, Natural History at the Egg in Newington until 23 June showcases those diverse yet similar perspectives.
Pam Holstein confronts mankind’s inadequate husbandry, using elegant references and allusions.
Karen Wilson takes the myths and symbols of olde England and uses them for her own playful ends, weaving contemporary references with memories from childhood.
Nick Jones describe his work as “Cheerfully morbid”, working in collage, his work references Dada and pop art and alludes to the fear driven by the military industrial complex interwoven with pop culture references.
