🎬 Feature Film: Lucifer Rising (1972) – Kenneth Anger

A hallucinatory, hypnotic film ritual, Lucifer Rising is one of the defining works of underground cinema. Kenneth Anger’s esoteric vision of cosmic forces, ancient mythologies, and spiritual transformation unfolds through striking occult imagery and symbolic performances. Shot across dramatic landscapes, from Egyptian temples to volcanic craters, the film immerses viewers in a trance-like meditation on rebellion, renewal, and transcendence.

With a legendary soundtrack by Bobby Beausoleil, Lucifer Rising is an icon of avant-garde cinema, blending mysticism and countercultural energy into a hypnotic experience.

🎥 Full Short Film Lineup

Alongside Lucifer Rising, we’ll be screening a selection of bold, surreal, and boundary-pushing short films from international filmmakers:

  • Compulsory Conscription (Iran, Abbas Tahaie) – A group of children, forcibly enlisted as soldiers, return years later to reclaim their space.
  • Deaf Orphans of Streamcast (US, Zazie Kanwar-Torge) – A neo-surrealist visual journey, colliding maximalist interiors with the vast, open road.
  • Deep Space Laika (Mexico, Rodrigo Alonso Reyes Fabre) – The first dog in space embarks on an existential voyage beyond the known universe.
  • Dream Code (US, Narottama Panitz) – A pixel-art autobiography, blurring the lines between gaming, memory, and simulation.
  • Principito (Spain, Yann Gil) – A darkly comic, surreal take on childhood, where a boy’s toys vanish into a black hole, returning as eerie adult objects.
  • Snakes & Ladders (Iran, Mostafa Rostampour & Atefeh Rezayan) – A twisted game of fate, where a child becomes a pawn in forces beyond their control.
  • Vasomotor Rhinitis (Georgia, Mikheil Gabaidze) – A Chekhov-inspired, darkly absurd story where a simple sneeze spirals into disaster.
  • Yesterday I Found… (Poland, Kinga Klajbor) – An animated, surreal reimagining of everyday objects, turning the mundane into the unexpected.
