Creative Edge: Artistic Methodologies for Social Justice Symposium

Artistic Methodologies for Social Justice Symposium

1st Jun 2018 – 2:00pm – 7:00pm – Book here

The arts can provide effective ways of working with marginalised communities to produce knowledge about their lives and to communicate this knowledge to a wider audience. There is a growing interest in the ways that visual arts, poetry, drama and music can be employed to highlight social inequalities and to provide solutions to them.

This symposium brings together a number of academics, practitioners and artists to discuss the work that they are involved in. A series of brief presentations of this work will be followed by a hands-on creative activity facilitated by an artist. This will enable attendees to share and explore their ideas surrounding the power of the arts to effect positive social change.
