LoC is Convenience Gallery’s & Open Door’s joint youth arts project for the Wirral Borough of Culture year. It gives Wirral’s future creative generation the chance to work with the artists from CG’s The Town is the Gallery programme to learn skills, tips and knowledge about a future in the creative industry across 7 incredible sessions. These include both traditional (techniques such as rug making, and calligraphy) and contemporary art forms and themes (such as music, and food within art), as well as a chance in some of the sessions to actually contribute and work on artwork for public exhibition alongside the artists.
LoC is all about giving young people aged 11-19 from Wirral and the LCR an opportunity to engage in monthly workshops in a diverse range of exciting contemporary practices, to feel inspired and to connect with others.
Phase 1 of LoC will run from March – August, involving programming headed up by Convenience Gallery and their The Town Is the Gallery programme.
Phase 2 of LoC will run from September – February, involving further collaboration with Convenience and most importantly an opportunity for our young people to co-design and shape what they want programming to involve.
We’re kicking things off with a LoC x TTITG launch event on Tuesday, 26th March from 4-8pm at the Convenience Pop Up, on 39 Borough Pavement, Birkenhead (CH41 2YE).
