Get Creative at the Cass Art Store (UK),learn how to create your own marbled patterns by using the traditional techniques taught by VA Studio designer/artist Vicki Opomu. Â
Victoria Opomu is an experienced designer/artist who created marbled papers and other products on the behalf of The Granby Workshop (Liverpool), winner of the Turner Prize 2015. Victoria Opomu is a mixed-media designer/artist specialising in printmaking, silversmithing, lasercutting and product design. Her techniques towards art/design is an exploration of her surroundings and what inspires her. Whether it’s nature, people, time at her workshop or just basic research into traditional or innovative techniques and surfaces.
Create unique patterns by using artists basic Liquitex products to create traditional/contemporary, unique marbled masterpieces. Your final masterpiece can be used over a variety of media or products.
This session will begin with a brief history about the traditions of Marbling and where it is used. Exploring colour options – colour mixing , best practice, manipulation of patterns, finishing marbled work on other materials and how to digitalise your work to add to your own graphic collection.
Get ready to be amazed by the beauty of a traditional technique brought back to life with colour.
All are welcome with no experience necessary and all materials are provided. Adults with a child are welcome age restrictions (8+)
