Relocating the Remains: History and Representation
Wed, 23 Oct 2019
6.30 PM – 8.00 PM
This discussion coincides with the publication of The Sphinx Contemplating Napoleon: Global perspectives on Contemporary Art and Difference (Bloomsbury), an anthology of Gilane Tawadros’ writings. She will be joined by artists Kader Attia, Keith Piper and Jo Stockham to focus on the relationship between history, representation and cultural identity through the prism of contemporary art: what impact does the past, and nostalgia for it, have on the present? How can different histories inform and transform our understanding of the present? Chaired by Bluecoat Artistic Director Bryan Biggs.
