Discover the history of Liverpool’s oldest city centre building through tours, talks, family activities and an archive display.

Responding to Anne Harild’s courtyard installation, We Approach, this year has an architectural focus, including a talk on how artists have engaged with the building’s history and fabric.

Part of the national Heritage Open Days festival celebrating England’s local history:

Saturday

10 am – 6pm Heritage archive display (in the Hub / upstairs outside the Bistro)

11am – 5pm Heritage Powerpoint Presentation (in the hub)

12.30 – 1.30pm Building Heritage Tour (meet in the Hub – please book, see details below)

1 – 4pm Library Open Day (in the Library upstairs) A rare glimpse at some of the material that we are developing into an archive of the arts centre’s 100 year history.

2-3pm Illustrated Talk by Bluecoat’s Artistic Director, Bryan Biggs; how the architecture and heritage of Bluecoat, Liverpool’s oldest city centre building that dates back to 1717, has inspired contemporary artists. The talk is set against the backdrop of artist Anne Harild’s new temporary sculptural installation at the building’s entrance. (in the Sandon Room)
