Looking at the fascinating history of the Bluecoat building and its ties to the early mercantile history of Liverpool, its years as a school, through to the reinvention as a centre for the arts in the early 20th century.

12.30-1.30pm: Exhibition Tour
Bluecoat’s Artistic Director and curator of Public View, Bryan Biggs, takes you on an informal introduction to our current exhibition.
2-3pm: Family Tour – The family heritage tour will look at the fascinating history of the Bluecoat building with an emphasis on the lives of the children who attended the school and the artistic community that has inspired creativity for over a hundred years. This tour is suitable for families with young children.

2-3pm: Heritage Tour
These tours are part of our Family Heritage Weekend, which includes numorous activities aimed at both adults and children inspired by the history of the building.
A highlight of the weekend is our illustrated heritage talk on Sat 25 Mar at 2pm. Saving Bluecoat, Regenerating the City is presented by our artistic director Bryan Biggs and Liverpool historian John Belchem and will explore the building’s reinvention in the 20th century after the school moved out.
