We are proud to announce our BlackFest LIVE Lounge – Limited edition – Mother Tongue. We starting back up and really excited for this one!
We felt that in honour of this moment and many moments at BlackFest where we have discussed language in great depth and how important the role language has on politics, colonialism, culture, relationships and identity we would mark and celebrate International Mother Language Day declared by UNESCO and observed on the 21st February 2021 on 17th November,1999.
It has been observed throughout the world since 21 February 2000. Find more information on our social media.
Competition Time: There will be cash prizes for 1st and 2 finalists of our drive to put a spotlight on this amazing day celebrating the array of indigenous languages across the world.
We will share poetry online the 21st February following our LIVE Lounge and announce the winner and finalists.
We have always been passionate about championing bilingual poetry and works encouraging our artists to discover our lost precious channel of voices.
We are accepting submissions to info@blackfest.co.uk we really look forward to your expressions and sign ups for our special LIVE Lounge.
Poems do not need to be in another language, can be a mixture bi-lingual and/or what your relationship with your mother tongue is even in yearning, loving or in nuanced ways we want to hear from you.
