Definitely a techno cannibal of the 21st century, using parts from old televisions & other rubbish to weave into structures, Alison Bailey Smith creates colourful & exotic ornaments, jewellery & wearable art. The results can not fail to attract attention. Her pieces are in museum collections & private collections around the world.
She has been showing more regularly in the UK since her return in 2002. Prior to that she had spent around 10 years overseas in Australia, Canada and America. She regularly shows at the Oxton Art Fair and has work in Editions in Liverpool, Cetra in Heswall and a new shop in Rose Lane in Liverpool called Inside Out. She is hoping this year to show again at the Brighton Craft Fair in November. She is about to embark on eco-fashion project with the Shaftesbury Youth Group in Tranmere, where the kids will have to design, make, model and organise a fashion show around the theme of recycling. She is based in Oxton, in the Wirral. All images on this page taken by Richard Jennings of Cetra Gallery in Heswall and model Anh. http://www.abscraft.com |
