Open Call: The LAKE gallery Open 2024, The LAKE Gallery

the LAKE gallery OPEN 2024

28th November 2024 – 25th January 2025

You are invited to submit artworks for inclusion in the LAKE gallery’s annual open exhibition, which will run from Thursday 28th November 2024 to Saturday 25th January 2025.

Artists working in the UK are invited to submit up to three (3) pieces in any 2D or 3D medium.

The selected artworks will be exhibited in our gallery during the OPEN 2024 exhibition.

The gallery will select two artists from the OPEN 2024 exhibition to each receive a £100 cash prize and an invitation to exhibit in the LAKE gallery during 2025.

How to apply

Applications should be made using our online application form below. Please read through the following key information before completing the application form.

2D artworks must be no more than 85cm wide/high (including the frame if framed).

Application images must show the whole piece and not just a detail.
(If the piece is already framed please include the frame in the image if possible.)

Please ensure you upload good quality jpeg images of your artwork with your application; images should be 1500px wide and the image files no more than 2MB in size. Please check the size of your images and resize them if necessary before attempting to complete the form.

Applications close on Sunday 20th October.
Artists will be notified whether their work has been selected for inclusion in the exhibition by Sunday 3rd November.

Selection

Work will be selected for the exhibition on the basis of the information supplied and the images uploaded, which must be of the actual artworks you are submitting. Any selected artworks found to differ substantially from the information and images supplied will not be included in the exhibition.

Work will be selected in the context of this exhibition and gallery space. Not being selected does not imply any judgement on the artwork, merely on whether it fits well in this context. The selection panel’s decision is final and no feedback can be given.

Presentation/Framing

All work must be presented to a gallery standard.

Framed work must be framed to a professional standard; no clip frames and no IKEA frames.

Box canvases may be left unframed but all sides of the canvas must be finished to an acceptable standard.

The gallery uses a hanging system; all 2D work must be fitted with D rings on the back of the work, one at each side positioned so that the top of the D ring is 4cm (~1.5”) from the top of the artwork.

Commission/Fee

There is a non-refundable application fee of £5 to be paid on submission of the application. You may submit up to three (3) works on one application for one single payment of £5.

All work will be offered for sale. All sales will be subject to the gallery commission of 40% of the selling price, so please price your work accordingly (eg. if your work sells for £100 you will receive £60. If you wish to receive £100 then the selling price should be (£100 / 0.6) = £167).
Work must be priced in whole £s.

Payments from sales will be remitted to the artist within 30 days of the end of the exhibition.

The LAKE gallery is not VAT registered.

Delivery/Collection

Artists must be available to deliver their work in person to the gallery on Sunday 24th or Monday 25th November 2024, and to collect any unsold work on Sunday 26th or Monday 27th January 2025. You may ask someone else to deliver/collect for you but we are unable to accept posted/couriered work or to package work for return by post/courier.
