FUTURE DESIGNERS COMPETITION
We are thrilled to launch the first annual PLACED Academy design competition, ‘Future Designers’. This free-to-access competition is for young people across Liverpool and aims to support emerging talent interested in design, architecture, places and the built environment. Their submissions will be judged by a panel of industry professionals with prizes to be won.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Future Designers is open to everyone in years 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11 in Liverpool. We welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds. There are three categories:
- Years 7-8
- Years 9-10
- Year 11
HOW DO I ENTER?
Register your interest here and we will email you the design pack which will contain the brief and set out where the project is based, what you have to do, and the types of things we’d like you to include in the space. We want you to use your skills and creativity to come up with ideas in response to this. There is no right answer – we’re interested in your ideas.
Once you’ve had your pack, you can get started on your project. You will need to submit a final project in December including:
- Either a drawing or 3D model of your proposal
- A supporting PowerPoint presentation (or similar) outlining how you developed your design, the things you considered, and any additional images you would like to share.
DO I NEED TO BE BRILLIANT AT ART TO ENTER?
No! Designers working in the built environment have lots of different skills. You can use photography, images from research, model making, drawing and writing to develop and share your ideas. If you have an interest in how places are designed or built, geography, art, design or being creative, the Tomorrow’s Designers competition is for you.
CAN I GET MORE HELP?
During the October half-term, we will run an optional free workshop which will help you to pick up drawing and modelling skills as well as learn more about the competition. Workshop venue, date and times to be confirmed.
WHEN DO I ENTER?
Once you’ve registered your interest and had your design pack, and attended the optional workshop, you should work on your final design and submit this kim@placed.org.uk before Sunday 8th December 2024.
