Burnley Youth Theatre are looking for a Freelance Visual Artist and Music Practitioner to collaborate with on a exciting school project starting January 2024

Burnley Youth Theatre has received funding from the Cliviger Community Benefit Fund to deliver an arts based diversity project called ‘ Celebrating Me” to pupils from St John’s C of E Primary School in Cliviger, Burnley, on the themes of :

  • Celebrating difference and being unique
  • Exploring Aspirations
  • Celebrating diversity

We are looking for a Visual Artist and a Music Practitioner to work in partnership with us on the project.

The project will start in January 2024 at the start of the new school term and will culminate in a community celebration event in March 2024. In preparation for this event, each class will work with a number of different artists / practitioners leading up to this event in order to work towards an artistic outcome.

Visual Artist role:

The visual artist will work with Year 4 class and a Year 5 class one day per week for 5 weeks (half a day with each class) to create a piece or pieces of art about their future aspirations, what impact they have on Cliviger and the world.

Music Practitioner role:

The music practitioner will work with Reception, Year 1 and 2 pupils to create 3 pieces of music for the event by working with the classes over one day a week for five weeks to create songs, engage with new instruments and learn new skills. They will explore music from their town and from around the world which represent and celebrate cultural traditions.

Artist Fee = £1250.00 (£250 a day)

– Your experience in either visual art or music

– Your experience working with Primary School Pupils on delivering projects / your past work 

– An idea of what you would create with the classes over 5 days and what outcome each class would have for the celebration event.
