Open Eye Gallery, in partnership with Wigan Council, is seeking a freelance Creative Producer to support delivery of the next phase of Open Eye Hub, Wigan & Leigh, building an inclusive photography movement that enables communities to authentically document and share their own narratives.
The role of the Creative Producer will be to support and oversee the delivery of socially engaged photography commissions, public exhibition and events programme, and a career accelerator fellowship for a young person. You will work closely with Wigan Borough Council, Open Eye Gallery and other stakeholders to develop the Hub.
Open Eye Hub builds on Open Eye Gallery’s national leadership in socially engaged photography. We work collaboratively with local people, artists, and communities to co-create projects that explore identity, place, and social change through photography. The Hub supports creative learning, collaboration, and visibility for local talent, while connecting Wigan & Leigh’s stories with national and international conversations.
The Creative Producer will ensure high-quality delivery, smooth communication across partners, and effective management of resources, timelines and evaluation.
As the Creative Producer for the Open Eye Hub you will work with Wigan Borough Council to deliver:
- Two Co-created Photography Commissions: a socially engaged project exploring contemporary masculine identity through collaborative visual storytelling and an immersive documentary project capturing diverse faces, narratives, and communities through an innovative mobile photo booth/studio, creating a rich visual tapestry of local life.
- Related project briefs for Wigan College photography students.
- Public Exhibition Programme: Showcasing the two projects above, plus an exhibition of the Tree Story Wigan project (which has been delivered over 2025), using both unconventional or outdoor spaces and Open Eye Hub space in Leigh Town Hall.
- Events related to above.
- Mentoring support for the Fellow.
