The Company Stage Manager (CSM) heads up the Stage Management Department, is responsible for the welfare of the acting company and will provide wider support across all departments at Shakespeare North.

Together with the Production Manager, the CSM is responsible for the smooth running of the theatre’s programme of production. The role involves working closely with the Artistic Director, the General Manager, the Production Department and Creative Teams for the show. The CSM plays a key role within the Senior Management Team in achieving targets and developing and maintaining standards within the organisation.

This is a full-time, Temporary contract, up to 48hrs, with a salary of £561.26 per week. In line with Equity and UK Theatre guidance.

Requirements

  • Experience of Stage Managing a production of this scale, minimum of 3-shows.
  • Foundation Degree or HND in technical theatre, stage management or theatre practice.
  • Good communicator.
  • Reliable and resilient.
  • Able to handle pressure and deadlines.
  • Capable of working as part of a team.
  • Effective motivator.
  • Flexible, with the ability to react quickly.
  • Good at organising your own work and the work of others.
  • Able to use your initiative.

Responsibilities

  • To provide effective management to all staff under the CSM’s line management. Lead on the promotion of staff welfare, development and training within the department.
  • Oversea performance management, motivation and discipline within the department.
  • Take responsibility for interview and recruitment, in accordance with SNP’s Equal Opportunities policy and current legislation.
  • Maintain a regular dialogue with the Artistic Director and keep them in touch with matters concerning the show in performance and rehearsal.
  • Familiarise company members, visiting companies and creative teams with the different areas around the site, including basic instruction in fire alarm use and evacuation.
  • Managing the cast and crew on a day-to-day basis.
  • Organising medical and physiotherapy appointments for cast.
  • Acting as liaison to facilitate excellent communication between creatives, producers, production, technical and cast.
  • Organising tickets for cast and crew with the venue box office.
