Bee in the City Manchester – Artists Open Call, Wild in Art

Wild in Art brings the creativity and enjoyment of public art to thousands of people through its high profile and popular events.

Working with host partners, artists, communities and schools together with public and private sector organisations, we produce mass participation events that animate cities and towns around the UK and beyond.

Through inspiring partnerships, our events bring immense pride to communities while offering extraordinary social and economic benefits as thousands of residents and tourists alike discover the wonderful world of creativity in a truly memorable shared experience.

We are pleased to announced that in the Summer of 2018, with the support of Manchester City Council, we will be introducing a stunning swarm of iconic, large-scale, bee sculptures to the city.

Wild in Art’s mass participation public art trails are un-bee-lievably popular! The event will have people buzzing with excitement and flying about the city with trail maps and the app, taking selfies and posting on social media. This is a special opportunity for Manchester and the North’s artistic community to showcase its exceptional collective talent and for individual artists to raise their profiles through this extraordinarily media-friendly event.

This is your chance to display your work in an interactive ‘out-gallery’ that captures people’s attention outside the confines of a traditional art setting, across the cityscape, in parks, public spaces and on the streets – for everybody to enjoy.

We welcome designs in any art form – traditional to new media, fine art to illustrations, graffiti and mosaic. Whatever the art form, we’re keen to add drama, fun and a creative flourish to the Bee in the City art trail. If you are commissioned, you will receive an honorarium of £850.00 upon completion of your artwork.

The artist pack contains more information about the art programme, the process for getting selected, sculpture outlines to apply your design ideas to, and important terms and conditions. The deadline for submitting designs is midnight on Monday 22 January 2018.
