‘All bound for MuMu land’ by Nick Jones 19 March – 18 April 2010
Strange Attractors presents the first single-artist show by Nick Jones. Nick is a Liverpool-based artist who creates bright, accessible paintings with a darker edge. His main themes are war, death, popular culture and kittens.
Nick Jones studied a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and an MA in Art History and Theory, and has exhibited widely. His paintings are held in private collections around the world, including Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Italy and the US.
Influenced by everything from sci-fi, military hardware, cartoons, nature and pop music, Nick’s paintings aim to be immediately visually attractive yet reward sustained viewings by revealing their often more sinister side.
“The title of the show, ‘All Bound For Mu Mu Land’ is from ‘Justified & Ancient’, a pop song by The KLF, a band with Liverpool connections through member Bill Drummond. It conjures images of a journey into chaos and excitement, hopefully a little like some of my paintings.”
