St Helens Open Art competition
The exhibition features more than 250 pieces of art created by people who either live, study or work in St. Helens and includes the work of prize winners in six categories. This highlight of the St Helens art calendar is held in the largest combined exhibition spaces in the town.
Second time lucky for Laura
It was second time lucky for Laura Quinn in this year’s St Helens Open Art Competition.
In 2012 her self portrait carried off the Portrait Prize at this highlight of the borough’s art calendar.
And now Laura has stepped up to take the prestigious first prize in the 2015 contest, this time with a portrait of her fiancé Dylan.
She collected her prize along with the other winners at a special evening at The World of Glass to launch the annual exhibition.
Second prize went to Tony Garner – last year’s third prize winner – for his painting Cannington Shaws Cone House, while this year’s third prize winner was Drunk Wolf.
Born and brought up in Haydock, Laura, 31, specialises in wildlife painting as well as portraits and was a finalist in the 2014 Portrait Artist of the Year Competition on the Sky Arts TV channel.
The St Helens Open Art competition has gone from strength to strength and is now held in the largest combined exhibition spaces in the town at The World of Glass.
Visitors can see over 250 pieces of work created by people who either live, study or work in St. Helens.

Highly Commended awards went to Kate Bufton, Chris Conway, Keith Bentham, Catriona Colbeck, Bronwen, Peter Owen, Bethany Claire Anders and S.K. Stevens.
The St Helens Open Exhibition runs at The World of Glass until September 11.
