AÂ new photographic exhibition entitled “Light and Mood” by St Helens based photographer, Peter Drought.
The exhibition concentrates on landscapes across the UK, seeking to create intimate portraits of the land under different light and at different times of the year. A special theme within the exhibition is how mood changes depending on the environmental conditions, varying from calming tranquillity through to drama, energy and even foreboding.
The exhibition also explores the long term relationship between the landscape and its inhabitants, seeking to emphasize the enduring size and power of nature in comparison to people and animals.
Since 2008, Peter has run his own photographic practice, specializing in architecture and building interiors, weddings and public relations photography. In 2012, his piece entitled “Langdale Pikes”, which features Side House Farm with Dungeon Ghyll in the background, won second prize in the St Helens Open Art competition. This was the first time which a photograph had featured in the top three in an exhibition, which normally concentrates on painting and sculpture. The current exhibition is a continuation from that event, expanding with images of the same theme.
The exhibition is situated in gallery one of The World of Glass, Chalon Way East, St Helens WA10 1BX and runs until 8 January 2016.
It is open from Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm, and features a mixture of framed and unframed limited edition giclee prints.
