Budding young artists from all over the borough are displaying their talent in the Youth Open Exhibition at The World of Glass, and the judges have been amazed at the standard of some of the artwork submitted for this year’s competition.
“We’ve been really impressed by the level of entries,” admits Evonne Bixter who co-ordinates the event.
Competitors range in age from three to sixteen and, as well as paintings and drawings, their entries include glass work, ceramics, collages, digital work, photography, and costume design.
“We even had some impressive print-making from primary school pupils,” said Evonne.
“I believe that seeing their work displayed in a professional setting at The World of Glass gives the young people a real boost.
“It generates pride and confidence in their abilities and we hope it will encourage some to go on later to enter the adult St Helens Open competition.”
