Comprehensive exhibition of entries for the annual St Helens Open Art Exhibition.
St Helens-based artist Kerry Lisa Davies is the winner of the open art competition. After finishing second and third in previous years the mother of three has finally carried off first prize in the St Helens Open Art competition with her seascape The Big Deep. Kerry paints mainly in oils and plans to concentrate on landscapes but will also continue painting wildlife subjects which she uses to raise funds for conservation issues dear to her heart.
Second prize went to Philip Wilkinson for his painting Terminus while Tony Garner took third place with A Building of Severe Aspect. As well as the three principal prizewinners, the exhibition features winning entries across six categories: Lauren Haddock (3D), Joan Birkett (Abstract), Frances Heyes (Landscape), Peter Humphreys (Portrait), Dom Bittner (Drawing) and Mark Higham (Photography/Digital Art). Artists highly commended by the judges were: Samuel Westhead, John Guy, Thomas Mulvanny, Roy Matthews, Tony Bishop, Sue Donnelly OBE, George Murphy and Mark Crosby.
Visitors are also invited to cast their own votes for the the People’s Choice award.
