ARTISTS DEMONSTRATIONS
COME AND MEET SOME OF OUR TALENTED ARTISTS, HAVE A CHAT AND WATCH THEM WORK
* Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th JULY – 11am-4pm
ROY ALEXANDER: Roy qualified as an architect and spent several years in America establishing a reputation in a variety of prestige and exclusive galleries. Roy’s architectural training commands him to portray the buildings he paints accurately and his understanding of watercolour enables him to express the textural features of the buildings through the paint itself wanting the observer to feel the nature of the building fabric.
Aside from the buildings and train paintings, Roy has recently undertaken a series of cottages and harbour seaside scenes, still in his known style but with a gentler theme. His paintings have been exhibited worldwide.
* Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th JULY – 11am–4pm
JOHN HORTON: John has been painting and drawing all of his life, mostly reflecting impressions of the natural world around him. He now specialises in depicting large landscapes usually featuring birds to a greater or lesser degree.
He demonstrates watercolour washes to give the illusion of distance and light.
John is a member of “The Wildlife Art Society International” and has been awarded “The Christopher Parsons Award” for artistic excellence in 2003,2010 and 2011.
* Saturday 23rd – 12pm-4pm
DAVID WILSON: David is a renowned marine artist who works in oils, acrylics and watercolour. His background in technical illustration gives him the high discipline required for accurate sketching. His drawing skills help in the accuracy of his boat paintings and also his interest in wildlife subjects. His interest in boats and water stems from his childhood living by the sea, from fishing to sailing.
It is not a photographic image that he strives for in his paintings but an image that echoes his feelings for a much admired subject. He continually searches to find and means to convey the natural world he sees, whether it is the crash of a wave on the ships bough, the children on the sands or the shimmer of the salmon in the pool of a pearly river.
* Saturday 30th JULY – 12pm-4pm
JANET VANCE AND MAGGIE REID: Janet and Maggie are skilled mixed media and textile artists and will be using their extensive knowledge to demonstrate an array of techniques including printing and incorporating stitch to embellish their artwork.
* Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th AUGUST – 11am–4pm
JANET HOLMES – DEMONSTRATION AND “MAKE AND TAKE”: Janet is a local successful ceramicist and sculptor and teacher. Janet is set on a life-long exploration of the endless possibilities of creative ceramics and has an enduring love of clay. Her work is deeply rooted in a respect for the clays natural economy incorporating textures that suggest intimate and sensuous curves. With an unpretentious organic element, Janet’s free-spiritedness and insatiable desire for life and her art, is reflected in a high personal approach to her pottery.
Janet will not only be demonstrating her talent but for a small fee, you will have the opportunity to create your own piece of artwork to take away. All ages and abilities welcome, no booking required.
