My personal interaction with the landscape and people  inspire my work. I use my observations of the world around me coupled with my inner feelings and express those within my paintings. My desire is to convey a strong sense of emotion or sense of place and my work is expressive in nature. I tend to paint out of doors picking up litter on location, sticking it onto the canvas and then painting into it. In this sense a lttle bit of the location is absorbed into the painting.

Career History

I have painted all my life, but it is only when I retired from my original career in 2008 that I had the chance to pursue my lifelong passion. I studied at Wirral Meropolitan College in Birkenhead, with Kim Harley, before moving into my degree with the Open College of the Arts, under the tutelage of David Winning (Neo Artists Bolton). I have also studied life drawing at the Bluecoat Gallery in Liverpool under the tutelage of Roy Munday, and still participate in a regular life drawing group in Liverpool. Previously a member of the 104 Duke Street Studiosin Liverpool I am now a member of The Arena Studios and Gallery in Upper Parliament Street Liverpool.
