10 May 2015
3pm – 3.15pm and 4pm – 4.15pm
FREE DROP-IN SESSION
Programmed in association with Edge Hill University
Visitors are invited to Imaginarium, an exploration through dance of the work by Leonora Carrington which is on display in Tate Liverpool’s spring exhibition. Developed partly through a residency at Crookhey Hall, which was Carrington’s childhood home near the Lancashire coast, Imaginarium draws on the physicality and captured energies found in Carrington’s sketches and paintings. The performer’s embodied response has been a direct reaction to the artist’s sense of mobilization, colour and imagery and their experience at Crookhey Hall.
Imaginarium is choreographed and performed by James Hewison, (Senior Lecturer in Dance at Edge Hill University), and Michelle Man, (Dance Artist and Associate Tutor at Edge Hill University). Original music by Alfonso GarcÃa de la Torre Rey. With thanks to: Edge Hill University, Professor Roger Shannon, the staff at Crookhey Hall, Costa Contemporánea Festival, Spain.
