Demonstration evening: 19 September, £22 (details see below)

Chester based artist Roy Alexander will be exhibiting a wide range of works at Stables Gallery soon, including original paintings, limited editions, mounted prints. A new range of posters of a selection of his work will be on display and available to buy.

Roy Alexander is a professional architect with a natural ability to paint pictures. His distinct and evocative style of portraying buildings quickly resulted in the images becoming both popular and collectable.

Roy says “My architectural training commands me to portray buildings accurately and a technical understanding of watercolour enables me to express the textural features of the buildings through the paint itself. I want the observer to look at my paintings and feel the nature of the building fabric. I like busy complicated street scenes with intricately detailed buildings and lots of people that I express as splashes of colour.”

In his architectural role, Roy was instrumental in the transformation of the entrance of the famous Royal Liver Building in 2011, the building obviously forms part of many of his wonderful paintings. Works include paintings of significant buildings of Liverpool, Chester, Oxford and London, Cornish seaside villages and highly detailed steam trains.

An Audience with Roy Alexander – Demonstration evening. 19th September, 6pm-9pm.
Roy will be discussing the various techniques he uses in his pictures and demonstrate a painting composition showing the development of the image from the earliest stages to the intricacies of the detail work. It is not intended as an art lesson but will focus specifically on Roy’s unique painting style and is a must attend for anyone interested in painting buildings and architecture. The cost is £22 and must be paid in full to secure your place. Telephone payments can be made.

All three events will be held ‘Upstairs’ at The Stables Gallery.
