“Karl Jung is a Grass”  Psychogeography in Liverpool and London

2 – 3 June 2012

The Royal Standard is hosting a weekend of events and activities exploring psychogeography as an artistic technique. Artists Colin Dilnot and Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau will curate film screenings, lectures and pyschogeographical walks exploring our understanding of the city around us.
Over the last six months Liverpool-based artist and writer Dilnot has been working with London-based artist de Kersaint Giraudeau to explore their respective cities and discover new approaches to walking as a form of research.

The weekend begins with a series of film screenings followed by a lecture from both artists which offers an insight into the research as well as comparing and contrasting their approaches to psychogeography. This will be followed by a round table discussion chaired by Bryan Biggs, creative director of The Bluecoat.
The second day of the event will involve afternoon walks around the Vauxhall area of Liverpool, led by Colin Dilnot, Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau, David Jaques and Emma Cummins. Small groups will explore, taking photos and making notes, to form new pscychogeographical readings of the area. This will be followed by a barbeque and drinks at The Royal Standard.
