Royal Standard: Farewell To Yesterday’s Tomorrow

8 – 11 July 2011 at The Royal Standard Project Space. ‘Farewell to Yesterday’s Tomorrow’ by Dave Evans
Private view – Thursday 7 July 18-20.00
Open daily 8 – 11 July, 12-18.00

In ‘Farewell to Yesterday’s Tomorrow’ Dave Evans shows new work inspired by the future. But not necessarily his own future, but the future as imagined by those before him. The unrealised potential of space exploration and the failed narratives of science fiction are used as starting points for the construction of transient objects from a past future. These fragile works attempt to question why we feel compelled to cast our minds forward, and the shape future takes for us today.

Dave Evans (b. 1975, Liverpool) studied at the Royal College of Art and is a studio member at the Royal Standard. His work has been shown in galleries and museums across the UK and abroad.
