An exhibition of artist moving image throughout the decades, made by women.
The Unfold Series is the first in a program of yearly exhibitions of artist moving image, which will run alongside the Liverpool Radical Film festival. Each exhibition will explore different facets of radical filmmaking both old and new, presenting them in a unique way in various venues throughout the city of Liverpool. This year’s exhibition takes place over two venues: The Well and Galley.
This years Unfold will draw together contemporary experimental practices by women and historical works from film and video archives such as Cinenova. The exhibition will platform lesser known yet ground breaking works, many of which have not been shown in Liverpool before. Primarily taking into account innovative techniques employed by these filmmakers, the selected works platform challenging aesthetics, the harnessing of technology and themes that continue to push against mainstream cinema and dominant conceptions of female filmic practices.
