Redeye Network Meeting
Tuesday 20 May, 7.30pm
Redeye’s popular free public meetings, organised in collaboration with Open Eye Gallery, are held every couple of months. They offer photographers of all kinds the chance to meet, catch up on news and gossip, and see short talks and presentations of work. This meeting features a presentation by Colombian artist Nelson Guzmán, who is currently doing a 3-month residency in Liverpool hosted by Metal and Open Eye Gallery (in partnership with Visiting Arts). Guzmán is particularly concerned with crime and “the problem of evil”. Using mainly painting, photography and drawing, he explores the elements and clues of this complex subject matter. He will speak about some of the projects developed in Colombia, including “Napoles”, a series named after the hacienda of famous drug trafficker Pablo Escobar, and introduce his Liverpool-based work-in-progress.
