‘Treasure’ 30 November 2010 – 6 February 2011. In the Mezzanine Gallery. An exhibition celebrating the work of Alicia, Chelsea, Marion, Kayleigh, Samantha and Sally; a group of young women aged 16-19 from Knowsley. None of the young women had used sewing machines, digital SLR cameras or jewellery making tools before.
Through a summer programme of workshops with artists and craftspeople they became confident at using these tools to express themselves creatively.
The work you see in this exhibition demonstrates their creative flair and a range of new skills. With the right support they discovered hidden talents and created their own treasure.
This project was a partnership between the Bluecoat and Knowsley Arts and Heritage Service.
