An exclusive solo exhibition for Kirkby Gallery by one of the UK’s most prominent contemporary sculptors.
This solo exhibition of Halima Cassell’s work will be the inaugural exhibition in the new Kirkby Gallery.  This is the first time all aspects of her sculptural works and vessels have been on public display together; exploring her development and practice as an international artist, whilst based in the North West.
This exhibition charts her use of design, process and experimentation as an artist over the past 20 years.
Central to this exhibition are a series of specially commissioned works in concrete, celebrating the New Town history of Kirkby and a new aspect of Halima’s portfolio.
Born in 1975 in Pakistan, brought up in Manchester and now living in Blackburn, Halima’s varied, multi-cultural background is tangibly present in her work. Fusing her Asian roots with a fascination for African pattern work and a passion for architectural geometry, Halima’s work is intense yet playful, structured yet creative; substantial yet dynamic and invariably compelling in its originality.
