This exhibition explores the concept of ‘sense of place’. In a world where the concept of place has become as broad as it has narrow, this exhibition investigates how and why people have attachments to certain places and develop a feeling of ‘home’ and ‘being local’.
Advancements in technology and the way in which we communicate, travel and live have greatly affected and
distorted this area of thought over recent years, leading to a situation of nowhere being far. This exhibition seeks to present a range of different interpretations and artistic practices which engage with these ideas.
The selected artists on show are: Arnold Borgerth, Hannah Cawthorne, Tracey Escolme, Deborah Gardner, Ian Hewitt,
Sheilagh Jevons, Pui Lee, Amanda Oliphant, Jane Walker, Joanne Walker, Phil Wilkinson and Sean Williams.
