Joseph Haydn’s The Creation marks the culmination of the musical element of the festival. Performed by soloists from Liverpool Hope University Orchestra (with members of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra) and Choir, and conducted by Stephen Pratt, The Creation has inspiration and influence at the heart of its composition. Haydn was inspired to compose The Creation after his trips to London, where he heard Handel’s powerful oratorios. During the composition process of The Creation, Haydn is believed to have begged God himself to let him finish the piece.
All events take place at Liverpool Hope University’s Capstone Theatre, Shaw Street, Liverpool, L6 apart from Joseph Haydn’s The Creation and A Musical Celebration of St. Cecilia, which will take place at the Great Hall on the same campus.
