Matthew Mortimer has just graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a degree in Fine Art and his impressionist paintings of the edge lands of cities have a haunting beauty which capture the beauty rather than the reality of the landscape.
John Elcock is a poet and a painter and his detailed painting of the Allerton Oak brings this ancient tree in Calderstones Park to life and on show with this work will be his poem ‘All Hail Thee O Allerton Oak’.
Martin Jones is a prolific painter driven to create vibrant landscapes and I am delighted to finally get him into one of my shows as he has previously always been too busy doing commissions to let me have work for a show.
Artists who have been shown previously at the Corke Gallery have been busy painting new work including:
Huw Lewis Jones has already had a busy year but I am delighted to have a collection of his most recent paintings not previously shown in Liverpool of lands and seascapes in North Wales.
Lisa Cole Kronenburg has painted new work for the show and this will be the first time the work will have been shown in public – one particular painting is a stunning mountain ridge which marks a stylistic departure but clearly recognisable with its fine brushwork and subtle tones.
Ruth Morrissey is now living and painting in London and he practice continues to develop and mature and she has painted new work especially for the show which makes it even more special as I have not yet seen it!
John Pickles’ work from the previous show sold really well so I have kept what was left for a little longer so if you have been hanging on there is still time to see his stunning watercolours.
Also on show will be work by Paul Gent and Josie Jenkins so it promises to be a visual feast.
