Corke Gallery – Colours by Ken Bullock

‘Colours’ by Ken Bullock
24 May – 18 June 2010 (Extended)
This exhibition is about colour and how it lifts and dominates this body of work. The 22 works selected for this show have been chosen because it is the colour that holds the key to the inspiration for producing each piece.

Ken’s started work in the sign trade in 1968 as a trainee and worked in the industry until he suffered a heart attack in 2005. Realising that he needed a career change he went to Liverpool Community College to further develop his creative skills and develop his love of painting and colour. He graduated with a Distinction.

He was asked by the Novas Scarman Group to become their ‘Artist in Residence’ at the Contemporary Urban Centre in Greenland Street in Liverpool’s emerging ‘Creative Quarter’ and worked there for 14 months, creating murals in and outside the building and the amazing 40ft piece of glass depicting the Liverpool waterfront which was all hand cut and created by Ken.

Ken’s work has been on display at several exhibitions including the Bankside Gallery in London and he now shares studio space with the Elevator Artists, located above the Leaf Tea Café in Parliament Street.
